Child asked for food, then taken to hotel, raped and murdered: PBI
The PBI said that the name of the arrested person is Al-Amin (34). He was arrested from Tongi in Gazipur on Friday. He confessed to the murder and rape and gave a confessional statement in court today. Efforts are underway to arrest another accused named Saddam in the incident. Citing information obtained from questioning Al-Amin, the PBI said that Al-Amin and Saddam met the 12-year-old boy at the Kamalapur railway station in the capital on July 12. The boy asked them when the train to Barisal would leave. Then they told the boy that there was no train to Barisal. At one point, the boy told them that he had not eaten anything for a day. Later, they bought the child food and shoes. In the evening, they took the child to a residential hotel in Jatrabari. At night, the two of them raped the child. As a result, the child fell ill. In the morning, when the child tried to rape her again, she resisted. Angered by this, they beat the child with a belt and killed her.
PBI Additional Superintendent of Police Abir Hossain told Prothom Alo that last Monday, the hotel staff found the child’s body while cleaning the room. Upon receiving the information, the Jatrabari Police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue. Now, after the autopsy, the child’s body has been kept in the morgue. Efforts are underway to identify her.
The police official also said that the Jatrabari Police registered a murder case against unknown persons on the same day in this incident. Later, the PBI conducted a shadow investigation and identified the two accused.
